Bobby East & Eric Gordon enter Little 500!

Bobby East and Eric Gordon are the latest entries in the 65th annual Little 500. First Dave Darland, then Jerry Coons Jr & Jimmy Kite and now Bobby East...... what a field this year! Who's next ...... Bryan Clauson and Kyle Larson?

Can't beleive East and Coons will be racing for the Rookie of the Race.

Gordon on the other hand has won 9 Little 500's in 21 starts!

Pavementsprints.com will have live updates, photos, interviews and live practive & qualfying all week long begining on Tuesday, May 21st (practice day).

Unless Dave Steele Comes back, Looks Like A Eric Gordon Benefit! Still the best race you will ever see.

I contacted Dave Steele this year and he said no. I wish he would come back.

Rumor has it another big name is about to enter The Little 500. Wonder who it could be?

Buckeye_Openwheel 5/14/13 4:25 PM

This year the field is going to be extraordinarily tough, just making the field is going to be a feat let alone contend in the race. I definitely don't think its going to be an Eric Gordon run away there are just too many driver car combinations that have the potential to run up front and I don't think you'll see anyone really run away with a win I fully expect the top spot to be contested throughout,
I also expect to see Aaron Pierce to be up front, he looked really strong in the glen niebel 100, I clocked him not far off his qualifying speed 90 laps into that race, and he has been up front the last couple of years.
This will be my 29th little 500 and it is a race is never miss but this years show is shaping up to be something special even as far as little 500s go

This has gotten too far down the page. Can anyone confirm this "big name" left to enter? Unless you are entering yourself Sweeney. That would be great.

OSF 5/16/13 12:32 PM

Big names not entered ; D. Hamilton , L. Jones, T. Hines, B Clauson, C Windom, B Kaeding, D Steele

I am positive that A. Pierce, JJ Helberg, J Bloom, T. Decaire, B. Wease, D. Adams jr will enter very soon as expected.

Re: Bobby East & Eric Gordon enter Little 500!

Well knowing Larson is running Nationwide full time, he's out based on them running Charlotte the same night. Davey Hamilton could be a possiblity since he at least was a Must See car owner, but I'm not sure what his IMS Radio or Schmidt Hamilton team duties might be that night. Levi could possibly find a ride from TSR if one is left and BC could as well. Levi might also have a potential ride from Jeff Walker if he has any pavement cars left. Windom ran in 2010 and 2011 in a car listed as Windom motorsports so he might also fit this rumor. I really have zero inside information though and no clue what owners still have pavement cars so keep that in mind.

My money is on the guy who finished 3rd last year. His team has spent the last couple years figuring out the strategy and now is ready to go for the win. Don't count out veteran Brian Gerster.

rockstar5 5/16/13 11:03 PM

Myself I'd like to see Bobby Santos 3

That Gordon guy is generally hard to beat. I sure hope he gets #10 this year. What a great story that would be.........

Stewart has to schmooze with the sponsors in the hospitality tents on Saturday night at Charlotte. They will pretty much expect him to show up - he has to juggle all the sponsor hats as a team owner.

Nobody will know the truth to any rumor until the day all entries are entered. Which would probably be qualifying day.

OSF 5/20/13 3:13 PM

David Steele would be cool, Don of Biobased has been helping him this year and may have a 410 motor for him.

Perhaps an owner that hasn't raced in quite a while but is well known for putting only good drivers in his cars. The driver is a big name, and definitely no potsie.

Has there ever been this good of a Little 500 rookie class before? This is setting up to be like the rookie class of the 1965 Indy 500. :)

ModHydro25H 5/21/13 2:23 PM

Re: Bobby East & Eric Gordon enter Little 500!

Jason Goacher is all business about this race and with Bryan driving I'd have to say they are one of the favorites to win. This would be a difficult race for a rookie to win, but if it was going to happen this would be the year. Does anyone know any history on rookies winning this event?

LITTLE 500 ROOKIE WINNERS:
1949 Sam Skinner
1961 Jim McElreath
1964 Dick Good
1972 Jeff Bloom
1974 Larry Dickson
1981 Greg Leffler

Re: Bobby East & Eric Gordon enter Little 500!

Wow...32 years since the last time. Shows it is darn hard for a rookie to win....very difficult race. I'm sticking with my earlier prediction....Gerster for the win after the strong 3rd place finish last year.
