Home Track
What is everyone's 'home' track? Either the closest to your home or the one you attend the most. What race are you most looking forward to this year?
|
Home track: Haubstadt 363 miles from actual home. Belleville Silver Crown race and any non wing race at the Action Track!
|
Re: Home Track
Kokomo Speedway is my home track and the Smackdown are the races I most look forward to.
|
I am very fortunate where i live. If i go east 40 mile i am at Eldora, 18 miles north i have Montpelier, 20 miles west is Gas City, and finally 49 miles west i have Kokomo. My favorite has to be SmackDown, the 4 Crown and the BC39 at IMS. That is 60 miles southwest of me.

Re: Home Track
Butler Motor Speedway. The only place left in Michigan that runs sprints weekly. Now that Tim Wilber owns it one can easily see it is on the upswing.
|
Re: Home Track
Eastbay ,all of them since 2024 will be the last year :(
|
Re: Home Track
Haubstadt, 140 miles from home. Magic Mile, DuQuoin State Fairgrounds, 1/2 mile from home.
|
Since1969 , Kokomo speedway has been my home track!!! About 25 miles to the north. Smackdown is usually the highlight of my season. The only bad track is a closed track!!

Re: Home Track
45 miles east of Bloomington
45 miles south of Circle City 55 miles southeast of Paragon 70 miles west Lawrenceburg 75 miles southeast of Lincoln Park 100 miles southeast of THAT 105 miles south of Kokomo 105 miles southeast of Gas City 140 miles southwest of Eldora 140 miles Northeast of Haubstadt What was the question? |
Home track - Bloomington. Can see it from my driveway. 🤗
|
Re: Home Track
Live 15 Miles south of Lakeside Speedway in Kansas and 35 west of valley Speedway in Missouri. But don't go to either that much anymore. Go to more races in Indiana than either. favorite track and one I go to more than most would be Kokomo. Wifes favorite would be Lincoln Park.
|
10 miles from Eldora. Been going there for 61 years. Everyone says u r lucky living that close and I say heck I go to 30 races in Indiana and 4 at Eldora.
|
Re: Home Track
I’m about 25 miles from Paducah International Speedway, which reopened a couple years ago, and they are finally having a sprint car race in 2024 and 110 miles from Tri-State Speedway, which is what I consider my home track. I grew up about 55 miles E of Tri-State Speedway and attended my first race there in 1964.
|
The Springfield Mile is the closest and the Bettenhausen is my favorite race of the year. Jacksonville is close and the track I make it to the most. It feels like home there.
|
Re: Home Track
I'm jealous....2 hr. drive to see mediocre winged cars OCCASIONALLY in NY state, 4 hrs. to good winged racing in Pa.....or Eastern Storm one week a year
& please, no wisecracks about "no such thing as good winged racing".... Flew to Indy for BC39 :23: |

Re: Home Track
We went to Atomic Speedway when I was growing up, right now I live 40 minutes East of Eldora and 30 minutes South of Waynesfield. The Four Crown is the event that I have not missed for many years. I really look forward to Smackdown and Sprintweek although I don't usually get to go to those in person.
|
Re: Home Track
Putnamville's Lincoln Park is the closest. Three nights at the Dirt Track at IMS would been the place I attended the most last year.
I look forward to the BC39 each year. Followed closely by both the Midget and Sprint Weeks here in Indiana. |
Re: Home Track
Pevely would be home track - 15 min
High Limit at Granite will be interesting Looking most forward to champ cars at DuQuoin, hopefully back under the lights |

Re: Home Track
Home track would have to be Lincoln Park Speedway which is only 36 miles from our house. Was Kokomo for quite a few years but with less racing (opportunities) there in the past few years it has become LPS. As far as the race we are most looking forward to in 2024 it would be the USAC Silver Crown/midget doubleheader at the Belleville High Banks.

Re: Home Track
I moved from Canada to Orange County, CA in late 1989. I was only 45 minutes from Ascot Park, and never missed a race. They closed at the end of the following year, I believe. When I retired and moved to Mesa, AZ in 2007, Manzanita became my home track, also about a 45 minute drive. They closed a couple or so years later. When Arizona Speedway was built, it was only 15 minutes from my home, and I caught all of the bigger sprint shows as well as the Wild West Shootout late model program in January. Now they closed a couple of years ago. Someone told me at ISW a while back, to PLEASE not move to Kokomo.

Re: Home Track
I try to make all USAC races at Terre Haute. Not as many on the schedule as I would like. Interesting no IRP mentions. Guessing there were many of us back in the Thunder days.
|
Bloomington it’s 1 mile from my house

30 minutes max for tracks below.
Paragon Lincoln Park Circle City IRP IMS Most visited last year was a tie Lincoln Park and IMS . |
563 miles east of Knoxville Ia. I’ll gladly ride past a dozen others to get there.
|
Re: Home Track
Lincoln, New Oxford, PA. 49 miles, 1 hour exactly. Only missed 1 sprint car show there last year and that's because I was at Port for the USAC show.
|
Re: Home Track
My home track is Kokomo 5 minutes from my house. I can get to Gas City in 40 minutes. Circle City is my next at around an hour. IMS and IRP are about the same. Roughly 1.5 hours to Paragon and Putnamville. Around 2 hours to Eldora, Terre Haute, and Bloomington. 2.5 to Lawrenceburg, and 4 hours to Haubstadt.
I am more into quality than quantity anymore. I don't generally go to shows with more than 3 classes. I will once in a while, but not very often. |
Re: Home Track
Thanks everyone for commenting on my thread. Love hearing where everyone is from and your favorite tracks and races. We were at Manzanita Speedway almost every Saturday March - November. I first attended in 1987. Watching and cheering for the likes of Ricky Johnson, Charles Davis Jr, Jeremy Sherman, Jerry Coons Jr, Bob Ream Jr, Eric Wilkins, Josh Pelkey, Nathan High, Stevie Sussex Jr, and many many more. I still to this day miss that place something fierce. That was the old ASCA division. 360ci cars. We would also attend the SCOA winged 410 races with the likes of Marty Wilcox, Rick Ziehl, Jeff Slinkard, Calvin Landis, Kaylene Verville, Ricky Hood, and many many more. The treat was when CRA then SCRA would roll into town! And of course the Western World! The place was packed! We also went out to Canyon Speedway quite a bit when the sprints can out there. Great memories also include when the Copper World Classic was at PIR in early February. Loved watching the Midgets and Silver Crown cars speed around the big mile. Then we would make the trek East across Lower Buckeye to 35th ave and Broadway to watch the sprints. They always had a big show the weekend of the Copper. Nowadays I don't get to attend many races as all our tracks have closed. We have been to Mohave Valley a few times to watch USAC CRA and every once in a while down to Casa Grande. We have been to Yuma the past few years for the Western World. It's a great facility. My folks live in Miami County, Ohio so I go visit every September and Dad and I go to the 4 Crown. Although last year may have been his last. He's getting pretty slow in his old age. I am going home to visit in May and going to go to Winchester for the Silver Crown race. It will be my first visit there. You guys are all so lucky to have so many tracks near you. Wish I had more money and time off work to attend more races. When I retire I plan to RV all summers and camp at race track all over the country. Sorry for rambling on and on. Have a great weekend everyone! Matt

Home track is Kokomo...1.9 miles from my house, approximately 500 yards from our farm...been there most of my life except a period when I suffered a serious eye injury as a kid near turn 3 backstretch. My late father worked the backstretch gate when I was a kid, I got called to the track for work the day of the BC Double of 2017, thanks to a good friend on here suggesting my business to the O'Connor Family. Have been going back ever since, being hired from time to time to do more work, bar none my favorite track and always will be.
Gas City I69 Speedway 2nd home track and 2nd favorite. 3.4 miles from our shop. Go to Logan's US24 Speedway where I help sponsor some teams and help on some cars, as well as sometimes Circus City, Peru. Some others that I love and have been to and made great times and memories, Eldora, Terre Haute, The Burg, and Port City. Favorite races hands down Smackdown. Week long party, top of the line nonwing Sprints for 3 straight nights. Next favorite is James Dean Classic at GC. It starts off one heck of a weekend for our family and friends and honestly the entire town and area with all the festivals, car shows, etc. Also it marks 2 days from our annual Fall Fish Fry and Party. Also means our Indiana Early Archery Whitetail Deer Season is nearing on October 1st. Thanks for the questions and this thread, definitely a good one!! |
Re: Home Track
My home track was torn down in 1988 and I've not found one like it since. Oh there are other tracks I really like, but none like home.
