Dri-Bars Take on Tulsa

Indianapolis, Indiana: Drinan Racing Products do not rest. Its revolutionary Dri-Bar anti-roll system designed by master craftsman Dan Drinan helped wingless 410ci sprint cars driven by Damion Gardner and Bryan Clauson top November podiums at the Perris (CA) Auto Speedway. And like everyone on Gasoline Alley last week, Dan was delighted to have an International Motorsports Industry Show back in Indianapolis to personally demonstrate Dri-Bar advantages to customers old and new. But as soon as Dan’s two children are done celebrating Christmas, daddy will be back inside Oklahoma’s QuikTrip Center focused on topping the Tulsa Shootout and Chili Bowl Midget Nationals.

Though hundreds of competing products will be at both events, Drinan’s chances of winning are good. For the 25th annual Tulsa Shootout, Dri-Bars will be bolted to the 600cc machines of Brady Bacon (already a two-time Shootout winner) and young Steven Russell, son of Eagle Chassis president Jerry Russell. Success in this class would not be unprecedented as six of the division’s top ten events fell to Dri-Bar equipped Mike Dicely. As always, Dan will be available and approachable during the long days of Shootout to answer questions from anyone else with an eye on going faster.

Dri-Bar accomplishes this by reducing the job of a right rear torsion bar. Contemporary science asks a torsion bar to handle both compression and roll, which means it needs to be stiff. Dri-Bar removes the roll task so that torsion can concentrate on compression, allowing a softer rate that can drive a car off the corner much more effectively. But don’t take Drinan’s word for it. After the Tulsa Shootout on January 2, Drinan returns to his midget roots for the 24th annual Chili Bowl Nationals on January 12-16. Last year, a Dri-Bar was used by the vaunted Greg Wilke stable that owns a record eleven victories inside the QuikTrip Center. Car owners Keith Kunz and Cory Kruseman collectively account for another 14 Tulsa checkereds and have committed to installing Dri-Bars on all ten of their Chili Bowl entries.
