Restarts are actually at the cone in the middle of the back straight. They went to that rule in 2010. The fans preferred it that way. It was the old rule when SCRA was at The PAS.

I prefer it on the backstretch, it causes less reds and yellows, like you get in the middle of a turn, makes more sense to me, plus, it lets everyone see what is going on, and allows everyone behind the leader, a more even shot at getting a good start. Bob
"Being old, isn't half as much fun, as getting there"! Ole Robert I!
As a fan, I prefer it on the backstretch. It's easier to see more of the cars and who is lagging, trying to get a run, etc... That's how the outlaws did it when they first started using the cone & single file restarts back in the mid 90's(?). I've always figured they changed it to the frontstretch because restarting on the backstretch could make it awkward for the scorers. There was always that half a lap extra on a restart and I can see where it could get confusing in certain situations. As a driver, I would prefer to just have a set of cones at the end of the backstretch for a "go area". When the leader goes, everything is fair game-no cones and no single file. If you're sleeping, too bad!
