First of all, this is prolly breaking all the rules here, if so, I apologize & understand.
Second, I am in NO way affiliated/related to or with the following. I just want to let other IOW's know if they are in this area, (& some of you powri will be.)
It's a Great place to eat!
🍔🍟🍝🍲🍦🍰🍧
I give it a 2 pounds up!👍📈👍
Ha! 😃

🏁Yes they even sponsored race cars.🏁(see the attachment)
Anyone here familiar with that I would love to hear more about it.
I'm guessing since it's Larry Cannon country, that is who was involved?
🏁
Anyway, I highly recommend everything on the menu, even the rhubarb pie!!!

Here is a nice story in their local paper about it a few years back.

I grew up in Tilton so I have been there many times. Mikes Chill was not there until I moved away but I always enjoy going back to visit both places. Not real sure about who they sponsored in racing. Could also have been Bubby Jones who also is from Tilton. Went to school with his kids and my dad went to school with Bubby. Mike is a huge race fan I remember they always shut down for a week or two so they could clean the place up and also go down for the Daytona 500.

The dining room is very small and they only take cash at both places but its well worth stopping at.

They take debit cards now. Also i believe even though several people drove the Mikes Grill special that the guy that comes to mind that ive heard stories about was Bobby Carrigan. Anyone is welcome to add to or correct this as i was not old enough to actually be around at the time.

P.S. There is a winners circle pic on the wall back by the restrooms

Wow, Bob Carrigan! There's a name from the past. I don't recall if he drove the Mike's Grill Special but I do recall that he was very tough to beat at American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois. And, Carrigan was beating some stout competition, too.

In those days the Cannon brothers, Dean Shirley, Ol' Bub, Chuck Weyant and ever the One Armed Bandit Chuck Amati used to roll into Fairbury on a weekly basis.

At the time we didn't fully realize the level of competition we were watching week in and week out.

Silver Crown Championship Dirt Cars properly driven on a one mile dirt track are classic poetry in motion. Using that analogy, Jack Hewitt is one of the greatest poets of all time.
