the best thing to keep the tanks on the cars is to put fenders over the tires. as we all know the most dangerous thing is when two open wheel cars make contact with each other's wheels, that's when the real trouble starts. fenders would definitely cut back on the cars flipping and tanks coming off. everyone has ideas on what to do, but we all know that fenders would solve most problems. i know people will blast me for this idea. but before that starts let's remember back when people thought roll cages were a bad idea, hmmmm. people will say if you put fenders on them, they're no longer a sprint car. isn't a safe race for drivers and fans better?

Don't need fenders. Just put perimeter rub rails on them like those things they race in Australia. That way when they touch it's rub rail to rub rail and they just bounce off. Doubt the average fan would even notice.

Just so everyone knows my position - I am in no way suggesting or advocating the above-mentioned posture. My position is to mount the existing fuel tanks with considerably more integrity than appears to be currently utilized.

I've never studied a Silver Crown fuel cell off the car. How are they mounted?
They don't seem to fall off.

Get you a shell that's had the original mounts torn out. I can think of several ways to DIY new mounts that would be stronger than the original. At absolute most you'd be adding a gallon's worth of weight.
