So far so good, but it will be a fleeting change.
In the Pay Attention To Me era most go out of their way to be complete pricks. |

Stopped going to concerts years ago. RIP Jimmy Buffett. Spectators today think they are part of the show at all kinds of events. Apparently their Funk & Wagnels does not explain the difference between being a spectator and a participant.

The goal of every short track race should be to make the crowd part of the show. the atmosphere at Chili Bowl is electric. DJT was the best

I was there setting on the main straightaway in a spot that was almost as far from those horns as one could be. They were very annoyingly loud even that far away and the current USAC announcer told them to knock it off in no uncertain terms during some pre-A main ceremonies. This crap is totally uncalled for.
They also played the same silly music all week it seemed and had it blaring to the point you couldn't carry on a conversation with the person next to you.

And yet, when I sat in turn 2 on Tuesday, Matt Ward himself encouraged it. He was driving the side-by-side to push off cars. He pulled up in 2 and gave the Rowdies the “honk the horn” arm gesture kids give to truckers. They blasted it with abandon and delight…
It’s just like the marshmallows. It was all fun until it became a problem. Before that it was frisbees, before that it was the sex dolls, and laser pointers, and so on, and so on. They’ll ban these too, in time.

I agree but there is a significant difference between actions which inhibit the enjoyment of others and involving the fans. HL seems to understand this as do others. It often boils down to individuals saying "look at me".

Marshmallows were fine until they hit one of the cops Monday night and he got after them. I sat in 2 while I was out there. While I’m not young I don’t mind it other than the incessant horns for a minute straight. Agree with the announcer shutting them down during opening ceremonies, that’s not the time. It’s certainly engaging throughout the week and that area is generally racers, crew members sitting there.
