Nice story about a guy many of us did want to know more about; and appreciate when he posts on here (one way or another).

I remember Richie as a teenager carrying his notebooks around with him at the races, sometimes sitting with us. He is one of the most honest straight up guys in the business. Glad he is getting the recognition he deserves.

All you need to know about Rich Murray is that he is a good person, loves racing, and promotes the sport and not himself.

Great guy. Doesn't seek the limelight. Reports the facts and knows the history of the sport better than anyone.

What a great article Pat! Hope everyone takes the time to read this. Clearly Richie's dedication to racing is a benefit to all of us race fans. Had no idea what Richie's start as a young fan looked like. Imagine the late nights Richie puts in to recap race night stats and write stories. We're running to our cars, and Richie is sitting in the booth trying to finish before 1 or 2 am. His light is probably the last one to be turned off at a track.

On a side note, I hope many fans got a copy of Fendered Fury, the USAC stock car racing book. What an amazing recap. Richie told me how many months and hours he and the other writers put into this book. I'm sure they weren't paid by the hour to compile all the pages and stats. Their love of the sport was our gain. Nice job Richie and co-writers!
