If McCarl was making money he probably would have kept it the same. They had a fatality a few years back. I am sure that increased his insurance, and may have raised his rent too. I don't know this for certain, but my dealings with insurance companies and what I know about fair boards, it is a real possibility. This race attendence wise and car count wise is at the mercy of Knoxville. The car counts are not as high as they used to be, so less guys are participating at Osky. Sprint and Midget had a colum about declining attendance at the Nationals and that has a direct effect on the Osky crowd. If you are really concerned, then you are probably there tonight. Just ask Terry or his wife as they are very visible throughout the night.

Yes, but the grand majority of attendees are in IA for the Nationals. The smaller the Knoxville Crowd, The smaller the Osky Crowd.

unfortunately, ya can only pay what the incoming proceeds allow, without major sponsorship/ of course another way of doing these special races is to guarantee a purse the promoter feels comfortable he can handle, then adding more too it if the gates (front and back) exceed the promoters espectation (it looks as though they may have done something like this at Belleville this year?) they could also base it somewhat on the car count they get too.

I don't understand why people think these promoters are making HUGE profits and that promoters are lowering purses and raising prices because they are greedy. A lot of racers and car owners own their own businesses and would not continually lose money just to keep prices in a range that makes their customers happy. So why do these same people expect a track to offer high purses with low prices and lose money. The reality is racing attendance is down and car counts are down. Its not because of one single issue like the economy. Then cost to run a track (overhead, insurance, lights, etc.) is not cheap. There are a lot of tracks that are lucky to break even and some that take small loses. So we should be happy that tracks are not looking to make big profits and are happy to get their money back each season otherwise the choices to race or spectate each weekend would be VERY few.

The Monday $3k to win is what it pays for a normal ASCS WEEKDAY show... show that was a normal race for ASCS...
