Why is it that USAC has to be at the "Four Crown" for 2 days, but the WoO only has to show up on Friday? I'm sorry but I think Eldora management has totally F'ed up the "Four Crown". I hate to pile on, and this has nothing to do with USAC, but this has been stewing inside me for awhile now. This event is supposed to be a showcase of USAC's premiere divisions- I don't have a problem at all with WoO being a part of the event, just make them conform to the old format (2 Day show) that everyone loves! How many people that are going to the "Four Crown" this year, will be at another racetrack on Friday (ie. Gas City)? My guess is alot. Why can't people listen to their customers anymore?
I take a large group of people, who rarely go racing, with me to this event every year. Every year it seems like I'm "covering" for the track for some reason or another, in an attempt to keep my friends from becoming disenchanted. I like them coming with me, but it seems as the years go by, they come more and more because I want them to, instead of them simply loving the "Four Crown". I know it sounds like I'm just spouting off, but I only typed this whole damned thing out because I care. I hope Eldora Speedway can get the Four Crown Nationals back to being one of the biggest events in the country. |

From the Eldora website:
ELDORA/USAC ANNOUNCE LINE-UP CHANGE FOR ANNUAL FOUR CROWN ROSSBURG, OH (July 30) – In an effort to present the annual Four Crown Nationals under the best possible track conditions, Eldora Speedway officials, in conjunction with officials from the United States Auto Club (USAC), have announced a change in this year’s format. This year’s event, the 30th annual, will be contested Friday and Saturday, September 24 & 25. When the travelling World of Outlaw (WoO) Sprint Cars joined the popular weekend in 2007, the entire USAC portion of the Four Crown was moved to Saturday. Their busy schedule of Silver Crown, Sprint Car and Midget divisions necessitated a start in mid-afternoon, which often resulted in less than desirable daytime track conditions. To avert that situation, the schedule has now been revamped to include the preliminary hot lap and time trial sessions for the USAC National Midget and Silver Crown divisions as part of the Friday line-up, in conjunction with the full WoO program. That move will allow Saturday’s starting time slot to be moved back considerably and allow track crews ample time to prep the racing surface for USAC’s three major non-winged touring divisions. Saturday’s menu will include the hot laps, time trial runs and preliminary heats for the Sprint Cars, along with the Midget heats. B-Mains and feature races for each division will wind up the show. Multiple satellite events are slated, including the Jack Hewitt charity roast on Thursday evening in the Eldora Ballroom and the traditional USAC autograph session on Saturday afternoon in the Eldora fanzone. Another time honored tradition for the weekend is the appearance of the Vintage American Race Cars with their restored race cars on and off the track. |

Augie and i agree on a lot of things, hell we only live about 2 miles apart. I like the Friday line up but i would much rather see the midgets or the silver crown cars run their entire show with timing, heats and feature events. Get one USAC division out of the way on Friday night so the guys who run more than one division don't have to scramble from car to car on Saturday plus it would save some laps on the track for Saturday, My first choice would be to see the midgets run all events on Friday with the WoO, then run the sprints and silver crown events on Saturday. Rember it's just an opinion so don't rip on me to hard guys.

All I know is the midgets n. Crowns better hit the track early Friday while there's moisture to at least look for. It won't b wet and tacky for winged cars, they'll get going to fast n then the track is scared. The track will be dry slicked off on saturday too, that's to much racing on that surface, they screwed that track when they added foreign (non eldora) clay. We got screwed out of a good usac show in April and their last show there mother nature prepped the track. so good luck to tracey hines and his crew finding the set up.
