Just bought a track in the Bloomington area for $750,000, it is my plan to race 16 weeks next season between May-Sept.Below is a break down of my projected nightly costs, keep in mind that exspences are year round thus when you devide by the 16 nights some cost will seem high.
Mortgage payment=$6000

Advertising $2000

Property ins,taxes, utilities,$3000

25 employees at ave. $10 per hrs for min 8 hrs.=$2000

2 Police=$350

Ave. nightly upkeep on equip./fuel/misc $1000

Sprint purse $6500

Mod purse $3500

SS purse $1500

TOTAL=$25,850

I am sure there are a few other things I have left out so to cover those cost I will admit signboard from might nightly take.

!000 spectators x $12= $12,000

35 sprints
25 mods
25ss
85 cars at 3.5 per car x $25 pit fee =~$7500

Concession stand profit= $3500

Misc progams ect=$850

TOTAL=$23,850

How close am I?
Some will say 5 per car in pits(not weekly shows)
I had to forget some exspences?

What is Bloomington speedway worth?

Brownstown and Bloomington pay $2505 for both the SS and Mods.(which is not enough). Why do people insist on thinking the SS's are such a scrub class? They have just as much in those cars as the mods do by the current rules.

You need to calculate into it at least one rainout where you have a mortgage payment, advertising expenses and track prep expenses and no revenue to cover it.
Also, are there any hidden or unexpected expenses the old owner did not tell you about -- such as needing a new sewage lift station to comply with EPA requirements that cost $1.2 million to install; or an unsettled medical claim that went unmentioned. You'll have to figure these in.

How "fantasy" is what you are talking about? Is this something that you are actually investigating or is it truly fantasy? Just curious about where you were trying to go with this post.

ossuks, Is this a school project? Sounds like it. If you need some real world costs e-mail me and i can help. your numbers are not too off, but you have missed alot of other expenses. The biggest problem you can't bank on having set income, but you can bank on a set payout. Promoting a track is a huge gamble. Every star has to align perfectly to have a profitable night.
