Keith Kunz has brought on the youngster from California, Kyle Larson, to run the entire USAC National Midget Schedule for 2011.

hire |hīr|
verb [ trans. ] 1 employ (someone) for wages : management hired and fired labor in line with demand. • employ for a short time to do a particular job : don't hire a babysitter who's under 16 | [as adj. ] ( hired) a hired assassin. • ( hire oneself out) make oneself available for temporary employment : he hired himself out as a laborer. 2 chiefly Brit. obtain the temporary use of (something) for an agreed payment; rent : she had to hire a dress for the wedding. • ( hire something out) grant the temporary use of something for an agreed payment. noun 1 the action of hiring someone or something. 2 a recently recruited employee : new hires go through six months of training. I think he meant hires, as in Toyota has hired someone to write a check to Keith Kunz so Kyle Larson can race his cars. |

It's no secret that your not gonna get rich owning a usac sprint car and midget team, so why is everyone so surprised. It's sad but still a reality that this is the way it goes now. When Dave Darland gets let go from a few of these top teams for a younger driver with little experience it doesn't seem like there's much hope for a driver to get a ride on talent anymore. The only gratifying thing about any of it is when small local teams kick their asses week in and out because there's no replacement for paying your dues in this sport.

Come on, guys! This is ridiculous. First of all, Darland left this ride after Tulare last fall. Second, it is a Toyota-backed car, which leaves Pete & Keith the freedom to hire who they wish. Larson has an impressive resumé at a young age, and it's not surprising to see Pete/Keith take this chance. Of course, I remember that they hired guys like Leffler, Drake & Shelton. I also remember a kid with a similar background/style named Kasey Kahne being pretty good in midgets too. We'll see how it works. I'm excited about it!

While I don't know anything about Kyle Larson, he did win a championship last season. Cole won a championship and moved on.
The funny thing I notice about way too many "funded" racers in all different series is that many of them don't get any better, or win any races yet they still manage to move on to a higher series. I hope thats not the case here, and I can't predict the future. |

Looking forward to it as well. Is Kyle going to be running Sprints too or just midgets?
