Due to the heat index expected to reach at least 100 today plus the chance of pop storms with heavy down pours. Bloomington Speedway is going to cancel tonight August 30th in the interest of safety of our staff, participants, and fans. We will see you September 6th for the season finale!

The forecast has not changed, if cancellation was going to happen why not pull the plug Thursday night. Several teams had already headed that way and now having to spend more money headed to alternate events.

I've been to races when the temps are 95+ degrees and horrible humidity every year! Low chance of rain with nothing on future cast now up to 6:30pm. Can't run a business being scared all the time, you're gonna run off your drivers and fans. I know it's not my $$ on the line too.

Eat dirt, be happy
Let’s go Brandon!!

It's not your money on the line, and with the purse structure for Maverick the loss would be in the thousands, not hundreds

So , its not the Heat and its not the Speedway, its Maverick's fault?......Maybe its the soft ass locals who inhabit that socialist town and county???

I wasn’t heading to Jacksonville so doesn’t impact me but again could have made call last evening. Did drive 5 hours to Indy last night with the plan of heading to Bloomington tonight.

So since it doesnt affect you then its OK for Jacksonville to cancel on predicted weather but its not for Bloomington? Try looking at it from the promoters standpoint. What kind of crowd do you think they would get in this heat? Just after Joe took over LPS he decided to run some sprint shows on Thursdays. There was a night much like this 100 degrees probably 110 heat index. I was one of the SIX fans that showed up. There were more cars in the pits than fans in the stands. I think Casey Shuman won but I may be wrong. The point is that I'm sure Joe lost thousands of $ that night. I certainly dont expect him to lose even more tonight with a higher paying class than the usual sprint purse. Now I'm sure if you called and volunteered to pay the purses for tonight he'd probably be willing to run.

I'll bet the big go gualifying is still on, maybe I'll watch 11000 horsepower tonight!

I'm sure they will. They have thousands of pre-sold tickets and live TV. They have to.
