I agree. An open tire rule would be great for the fans. Give us a little more to cheer about come show time. I am sure that the series will pull the "Cost Savings" card out and sign a deal to run spec tires, though.
Goodyears when you want to race. Hoosiers when you want to win.
First post for me. Thanks for the open invite and not "spec" members.

Does anybody have open tire rules of any kind now? I'm not being a wisenheimer, honestly. I can't think of anyone, in terms of a top level series, etc. Anybody?

Boss series has open and has some contingency from both Hoosier and AR I think.
Not to change the post, but would this have anything to do with the goodyear TV commercials? They would show 4 or 5 types of race cars that use goodyears.--off road--drag racing--but no sprint cars. You would think for the money they had spent to get the lock on WOO sprint cars they would have a 10 sec clip of them. Just asking.

The article doesn't really say that there will be no more Goodyear in WoO. It says it will not be the "official" tire supplier after 2012. Reading between the lines - you will be able to get them but likely at a higher price.
