That's decent.

The second biggest shortage in racing right now is help.

I would agree with you if I didn't constantly offer help to racers. I've tried here on IOW and get no response. I've tried in person and get turned down. I don't even ask for pay - I just hate going to the races when I don't have something to do or someone to help.

Maybe I just need to find something else to do.

Don't feel bad Tim, I've had the same issue. Not only have I been turned down multiple times about being a volunteer crew member but I've even reached out to multiple USAC level sprint car drivers about sponsorship only to have them not even respond lol. Oh well. I guess I'll just keep my free time and money.

I'd say most of the shortage is middle of the week help....everybody wants to show up on raceday

I agree - But doesn't that relationship start in the pits?

Everyone is always complaining about promotors not doing anything to promote or move our sport forward.
I tried to make a positive post to compliment one that is trying something and all it gets are negative posts ignoring his effort.
I can just see every promotor that reads this thread just shaking their head and wondering "why even try"

I would say it all starts at race shop see what the guy/girl knows about what going and if willing to do dirty work .Cause the work done at race shop (you hope) race day should be easier and at shop you can teach or learn

Props to that promoter for seeing a need and for doing what he can to help out. It's not like it used to be. Most guys are lucky if they have one truly dedicated crew guy. Walk through the pits and see how many times that one dedicated guy is the driver's dad.
